McHenry County ECO Farm: Doing Business as Hongik ECO Farm
Surviving the Covid-19 pandemic was a potent reminder of how interconnected we are. A conversation among a few McHenry County IL. friends about “community” and post-pandemic life led to the founding of McHenry County ECO Farm, with 4 friends becoming initial board members of the nascent organization.
How can we serve our community? What can we do to create a community of coexistence? How can we honor and care for nature and all lives including ourselves? These were the topics of conversation that led to the forming of McHenry County ECO Farm. Our dream is to bring much needed information and material help on a healthy lifestyle to those who need such help. Located in Huntley IL, the village at the center of McHenry County, McHenry County ECO farm will serve many surrounding communities. Among them will be Harvard, the only city that is federally designated as economically distressed in McHenry County.
Hongik, a philosophy of the ancient Korea, means “benefiting all”. It reflects our ardent desire to create a culture of co-existence among people and all lives. Calling our community farm, Hongik ECO Farm, is to show our commitment to serve our community to benefit all lives. We hope to reach hearts of many who share the same dream, the dream of a world where all lives thrive together.
