August Highlights

Hongik Eco Farm is in full bloom and August was full of activities!  Here are some highlights!!

August 8 was our 2nd annual Open House and was full of fun activities and community connection!  If you missed it, join our mailing list and we will keep you posted on next year’s Open House as well as many other amazing activities.

FarmLink came out to do a feature on our lovely farm. They took take pictures, some videos and interviewed our founder Younglim and our farmer Eric.  FarmLink is an organization that matches up landowners and farmers. They were extremely complimentary of our farm and our efforts. The feature will be completed around October.  We will make sure to keep you posted and send you a link so you can check it out.  Thank you FarmLink!

We are excited to share that we are members of the McHenry Rotary Club and our Board President Younglim has been developing some wonderful connections as part of membership.  Thank you McHenry Rotary Club for providing such a rich forum for people to come together for a common good and common purpose.  Thank you to all the members that have already come to visit and  volunteer at the farm.

With SNAP benefits being impacted, what we do at the Hongik Eco Farm is even more important than ever.  We are excited to share we have relationships with both the Harvard Food Pantry, the Woodstock Food Pantry and the Crystal Lake Food Pantry — AND we are looking to develop partnerships with other local food pantries as well.  So far this summer, we have donated over 21,500 pieces of produce to local food pantries, helping hundreds of families in need. At the beginning of our 2026 growing season, we set a goal of doubling our 2025 donation of 11,000 pieces of produce and we are excited to report we will be exceeding our goal!

If you want to be part of this impactful vision, please visit our website to see how you can donate time, services or financial support!  Together we can expand the ripple of our positive impact in our community.
