A Special Thank You to St. Thomas Orthodox Church

On June 20, we were delighted to welcome 40 volunteers of all ages from St. Thomas Orthodox Church to HongIK ECO Farm for a morning of service, learning, and community.
Together, they weeded and mulched garden beds, built bean trellises and our signature no-till beds using cardboard and compost, harvested garlic scapes, cut pepper trellises from our Norway spruces, transplanted sunflowers, and seeded squash along with green and yellow beans that will help feed neighbors experiencing food insecurity.
What stood out just as much as the work was the curiosity. Volunteers asked thoughtful questions about no-till gardening, soil health, and sustainable farming, making the morning a shared learning experience for everyone.
At HongIK ECO Farm, we speak about Hongik—living and working for the benefit of all. The volunteers from St. Thomas Orthodox Church truly embodied that spirit. Their generosity, teamwork, and joyful attitude helped grow food, strengthen community, and make it a delightful day for all of us.
Thank you for helping us build Hongik!!!!
